The analogy for the manifestation of this stronghold comes from Hebrews 12:12-17, Genesis 25:27-34 and Malachi 1:1-5, and how it played out in the life of Esau. The heart or center of this stronghold or the strongman as Jesus called it is "gone astray in your heart." From the center or heart of the stronghold come six demonic powers attached in support of the strongman.
The Course of the Stronghold of Bitterness
(Scriptures for each point taken from Genesis 25)
|
7. Unwanted (Rom 9:13)
= not needed (cast away) "I loved Jacob and hated Esau"
|
|
1. Unwilling (vs.30)
= won't cooperate "please feed me...for I am weary" |
6. Unlikeable (vs. 34b)
= not nice (ugly) "thus Esau despised his birthright" |
Gone Astray in Your Heart
= cold & indifferent
|
2. Unbelieving (vs. 33)
= cannot trust (insecure) "so I swore...sold his birthight"
|
5. Unable (vs. 34)
= never try (stunted) "and Jacob gave Esau"
|
|
3. Unforgiving (vs. 31)
= doesn't forget "I am about to die...so what profit shall this be to me" |
Bitterness...
-
clouds your judgment
-
polutes your speech and
-
corrupts your life.
Bitterness will slow you down until it stops you, all the while reversing the will of God for your life.
Bitterness produces a lost soul with no purpose in life. Full blown bitterness is irreversible.
Wherever you have manifested unbelief, the seeds of bitterness have been planted. God can't work in a bitter persons life because they don't have love or faith.
